The EISX8M-100T Compact Managed Switching hub in the CTRLink? family provides management functionality in situations where outdoor temperatures are expected. Network management is significant in an outdoor scenario because in many cases the location of the switch or switches may not be nearby, making troubleshooting tricky. With the EISX8M-100T, the user can remotely diagnose the network and restore service. It has eight 10/100BASE-TX twisted-pair ports while supporting the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
Equipped with the conventional features common in standard Plug and Play switches, the EISX8M-100T also has advanced features such as Port VLAN, Trunking, Quality of Service (QoS), a Web Server, and a Programmable Fault Relay that can be connected to a supervisory system. Individual port parameters and other settings can be configured via a console port attached to a terminal emulation program, allowing for custom configuration.
Port VLAN allows for the physical network to be configured as multiple virtual local area networks; thereby, limiting the broadcast / multicast domains and improving performance.
Trunking allows for ports to be grouped together so as to function as a high-speed backbone to another EISX(M) managed switch while providing redundant connections between two switches.
QoS provides priority to messages received by the switch. Three schemes are supported: port-based priority, priority- based on MAC address and IEEE 802.1p priority.
Web Server allowing switch access via a web browser. It has an IP address and possibly a domain name.
Programmable Fault Relay provides a dry contact to supervisory systems upon a fault condition sensed by the switch. This includes loss of link or addition of link.
Either straight-through or crossover cables may be used to connect any of the Auto-MDI/X ports to NICs or another hub. In addition to one power LED, each port has an LED showing link/activity/data rate by color: green for 100 Mbps and yellow for 10 Mbps. Flashing indicates port activity.
The EISX8M-100T is shipped with a DIN-rail clip for installation with a TS-35 DIN-rail. If direct mounting to a sub-panel is needed, an optional panel mounting bracket, shipped with the product, can be installed after removing the DIN-rail clip.
